What to Do First
My Pet Has Passed Away. What Should I Do Next?
At Pets at Peace by Harris Funeral Home, we serve every veterinary hospital and residential home in Monroe County and surrounding areas. No matter where your pet is, we are here to guide you with compassion and care.
Please follow the instructions below based on your situation:

1. My pet passed away at my veterinary hospital.
Simply call us at (585) 706-1706, and we will coordinate everything with your vet on your behalf.
2. I’m scheduling euthanasia at my veterinary hospital.
If you’re planning a euthanasia appointment at a veterinary hospital that does not partner with us, you can still choose Pets at Peace.
Please print and complete our Cremation Authorization Form, or give us a call and we will handle it with you over the phone. Our team will take care of all the details to ensure your pet is brought into our care safely and respectfully.
3. My veterinarian already partners with Pets at Peace.
If your veterinary hospital is partnered with us, no further action is needed. Their team will assist you in completing the necessary paperwork and will notify us immediately. We will respond as soon as possible to bring your pet into our care.
If you would like to contact us directly, you are always welcome to call (585) 706-1706.
4. My pet passed away at home. What should I do?
If your pet has passed at home, you have two options:
- Our caring team can come to your home to assist you.
- You may bring your pet to our facility.
Whichever option you choose, please call us at (585) 706-1706 so we can guide you through the next steps and make arrangements that feel right for you.
