On July 12, 2025, we had to say our final goodbyes to Wrigley, a 15-1/2-year-old Havanese. He was the #1 dog, and was the result of many, many months of debate on whether we were “dog people.” We ultimately made the right decision on June 19, 2010 when we brought Wrigley home. He was a dear, and loved all people and dogs. He was so happy to join our family, and he expressed it almost daily right up to the end. He had a smile that could melt your heart. He loved to follow us around everywhere, lovingly earning him his first nick-name of “Velcro.” Other nick-names that followed included; Buba, Wrigley-Mann, Wriglies, Wrig-go-ly, Happy Dog, and Hoover. The last because he would always keep our floor clean of crumbs. But because his first nick-name was Velcro, it was necessary to eventually get Wrigley “a pet.” So along came Brûlée, and then Cooper. Although, Wrigley loved his younger sister, and was sad when he had to say goodbye to her last October, he was always a little jealous of his younger brother Cooper. We always told him that Cooper was his fault because he was the perfect dog. Our children and Grandchildren loved Wrigley. They called him the “immortal dog” because even up to the end, he was always healthy. Age did finally take its toll. We could tell that our time with Wrigley was quickly ending. After some health issues, and then additional issues that were not correctable, we finally had to make that decision that every pet owner dreads. But we knew it was time, and we know he is now free from pain, and is romping the heavenly fields with his sister, Brulee. It is comforting to know he was able to spend his last days enjoying the comfort of the guest bed, his favorite spot to snuggle.
